“There is a hill on my favourite ride, that up until recently, I always had to get off the bike for. Last time I went out I went up it no problem. That’s a sign that strength has improved. Things like playing golf, it’s just much easier, it makes golf more fun, I don’t get tired by the end of the round, I can swing better.”

What made you interested in doing the Rev5 workout?

I’ve always liked the idea of doing high intensity training, I did kettle bells for quite a while and I’ve used the Pace program, Dr. Sears and things like that, which has always been quite interesting, but I have never done anything that trained to failure, and the whole idea of stimulating that level of adaptation in the body appealed, and it works! It has made a huge difference to how strong I feel, how fit I feel. It has made a difference to my posture, even though I am a chiropractor, I feel that I can hold better posture more easily.

What have you noticed in everyday terms, that has changed?

Well, I look at it that Rev5 is like my exercise now, and then other things that I do are more fun, I go for a bike ride for fun now, for a quick 14 miles. There is a hill on my favourite ride, that up until recently I couldn’t manage, I always had to get off. You would turn a corner and there was this really steep hill and no way, and last time I went out I went up it no problem. That’s a sign that strength has improved. Things like playing golf, it’s just much easier, it makes golf more fun, I don’t get tired by the end of the round, I can swing better.

How do you find the experience itself, of doing the workout?

It’s a challenge! But that’s good. You couldn’t do it without someone there talking you through it, that’s a key important part of it I think, just getting you to do that last push, go right to failure. But it’s great that it’s so quick and that you don’t have to get changed and you can fit it in to the weekly routine. And now I am down to having to do it about every 10 days or so which is even better, probably get up to 2 weeks fairly soon.

What would you say to people who are thinking of trying the Rev5 workout but are hesitating?

It depends on the reason. But I don’t see why not. It makes perfect sense to me, it stimulates your body in more ways than just the muscle growth, it does actually stimulate your fitness level overall. I think people think that if you are just building muscle then you are not getting fit in other ways, but your heart and your digestion and everything gets geared up to support all the muscle and that whole capacity gives you more ability to do other things.
